Rio Rancho Traffic Alert: Toy Run Motorcycle Rally
The 17th Annual Rio Rancho Toy Run will take place on Sunday, Nov. 22 and will kick off at 11:30 a.m. at Rio Rancho High School, 301 Loma Colorado Drive.
From the high school the rally will travel along Northern Boulevard, Unser Boulevard, U.S. 550, N.M. 528/Pat D’Arco Highway, and east on Sara Road ending at the Italian-American Association, 1565 Stephanie Street.
Iris Road and Idalia Road Intersection
From Nov. 12 through Feb. 26, 2010, speed reductions, lane restrictions and shoulder work will occur at the intersection of Iris Road and Idalia Road.
Work is related to the installation of a roundabout at this intersection.
Preventative Maintenance & Road Resurfacing Activities -- Updated 11/09/09
Drivers should expect intermittent restrictions and short delays. Residents will have limited access to the road. Please adhere to all traffic control signage. All vehicles need to be removed from street parking and will be towed if left on the street during construction activity hours.
The following streets will be resurfaced on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Scheduled construction duration is:
Monday, November 16
Norfolk Court from Oakmount Drive to end
Monday, November 16 through Wednesday, November 18
El Granado Court from Palmas Altas Drive to end
La Pinta Court from El Granado Court to end

Cherry Road Reconstruction Project -- Unser Blvd. NE to 10th Street NE -- UPDATED 11/17/09
Contractor crews are milling out and repaving Cherry Road from 10th Street NE to Unser Blvd. Frontage Road NE. A roundabout is also being constructed at Cherry Road and 17th Ave.
NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
CHERRY ROAD & 17TH AVENUE INTERSECTION
DATES OF CLOSURE: November 23, 2009 to January 22, 2010
Detour routes will be set up to utilize 10th St. and 15th Ave. and 19th Ave. Additional paving work is being done on 10th St. to allow it to accomodate two-way traffic.
Idalia Road NE at Iris Road NE -- Updated 11/17/09
Traffic is switched from all four approaches to temporary paving while old roadway is removed and intersection is prepped for roundabout construction. The speed limit through the temporary road section is 25 mph.
Paseo Del Volcan Construction -- Iris Road NE to US 550 -- Updated 11/17/09
Construction of Paseo Del Volcan is currently ongoing. Shoulder work is occurring along US 550 from New Foundland Drive NE to Sprint Blvd. NE (south side of roadway).
ENCHANTED HILLS BLVD. ROAD WORK
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 18 the eastbound lanes on Enchanted Hills Boulevard from Bismark Hills Way to Sprint Boulevard will be closed, and the westbound lanes will be utilized for two-way traffic. The speed limit within this area will be 25 mph.
In addition, Lawrence Drive will not have access to Enchanted Hills Boulevard. Northbound traffic will be detoured east to Mackenzie Drive and have access to Enchanted Hills Boulevard via Montreal Loop.
Road restrictions and detours are expected to last through early 2010.

Road Construction information is posted by Public Works Engineering staff as it becomes available. Motorists traveling within construction zones are urged to drive with caution, observe traffic control devices and have a safe trip! Remember to always wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit.
