Refuge Supervisory Park Ranger Shawn Gillette and Friends of the Bosque del Apache Festival Coordinator Robyn Harrison will provide an introduction to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge and the 22nd annual Festival of the Cranes. The program will provide an overview of the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, its history and purpose, and a glimpse into events and activities planned for the Festival of the Cranes, which will take place November 17th through the 22nd.

Join us for our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration, Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 1:30 in the MSC dining room. It has become a custom for MSC to host the Honor Guard and the Valley High School drill team. They bring to MSC the spirit and tradition that epitomizes the various branches of the Armed Services. We will have music and food as we remember those who have served their country. Refreshments will be served. Tickets for the celebration will be available beginning at registration.

MSC & HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Albuquerque, invite you for a FREE Screening to assess your risk of falling. Specially trained Physical Therapists will be on-site to help determine your risk for falling. Falls can lead to many different medical problems, including hip fractures and brain injuries. These medical complications can lead to loss of independence. Let HealthSouth aide you in preserving your independence. Space is limited to 8 clients per session. Coping Effectively with Mental Illness Without Going Crazy - Nov. 24
Josefa E. Vazquez, MSW, ACSW, retired clinical social worker with 30 years of experience in the field of mental illness will be talking about the symptomolgy of depression and bipolar illness. “The Invisible Disability” educational video about the impact of mental illness will be shown. This presentation will increase self-awareness as well as provide effective tools to strengthen survival skills.

The Department of Aging and Long Term Care’s HIBAC (Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Corps) program provides MSC with a volunteer counselor twice a month. Items for discussion include Medicare/Medicaid, claim denial appeals, HMO information, nursing home and home health care coverage, SSI, and help with medication, utility bills, food assistance, and housing.
