Office of Emergency Management Encourages all Residents to Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

The City of Rio Rancho’s Office of Emergency Management is encouraging all Rio Rancho residents to sign up for emergency alerts. For over 10 years, the City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County have utilized the CodeRED Emergency Notification System for public notifications during an emergency, such as a water outage, or disaster, such as a fire.

This incredibly important and useful tool gives the City the ability to notify (via telephone, cellular phone, TDD/TTY device, or email) specific areas within the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action. For example, if an evacuation was necessary due of the recent fire that burned west of Rio Rancho, one of the ways the City would have notified residents would have been via this CodeRED system.

The system automatically has all land line phone numbers of residents living in Rio Rancho and Sandoval County entered. Registration is required if residents only have a cell phone or would like to receive additional notifications via a mobile device. Registration for this system is free and available online at https://goo.gl/gg3RiY. When signing up, residents can choose how they would like to be notified. For example, someone could choose to be notified by receiving a phone call, a text message, or an email.
