Fitness Classes

All classes listed below are at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center located at 745 Loma Colorado Blvd. Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144.  

We offer a variety of classes for all fitness levels and your first class is free. Class times and offerings subject to change.

Fitness members are welcome to swim before or after classes.

There are no morning aqua classes the first Monday of every month.

Indoor Group Cycling

Whether you’re an experienced outdoor cyclist or your feet haven’t touched the pedals since you were a kid indoor group cycling has something for you. Cycling provides you with a fantastic cardiovascular workout which is key to a healthy body and strong heart. Padded cycling shorts and heart rate monitors are recommended but not required. All fitness levels are welcome. Please notice the new format for out classes below.

*Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to allow for proper bike set-up.

  • 9:00 a.m. - Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 
  • 5:00 p.m. - Monday and Wednesday 
  • 6:00 p.m. - Tuesday and Thursday
Maximum participants: 15

Circuit City

This class is the perfect combination of heart pumping cardio and resistance training. You'll hit every muscle group as you burn calories zipping through stations of different fitness equipment that may include TRX Suspension Ropes, Kettlebells, medicine balls, jump ropes, and weights. This class is ideal for both men and women of all fitness levels who want total body results in a limited amount of time.

  • 6:00 p.m. - Monday and Wednesday

Strong by Zumba

Strong by Zumba is a high intensity interval training workout driven by the science of Synced Music Motivation.  Unlike all other workouts, we don't just create moves to a playlist.  Instead, we craft and reverse engineer the songs to match every move, driving the intensity in a  challenging progression that provides a total body workout.

Class times:

Lower Body and Core

Whether you are looking for an awesome hour of workout or to tone up, this class will work those sometimes forgotten muscle groups in both the lower and upper body.  There will be half an hour devoted to lower body strengthening and another half hour to core body strength.

Enjoy a gentle flow in motion followed by a substantial and soothing sequence of seated poses that leave you feeling complete and nourished. Personal mats are encouraged but not required.

Step Aerobics

This class offers a workout that effectively works your cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and muscular strength.  A portion of the class involves aerobic activity, performing step sequences, with the use of a portable step platform.  Another portion of the course utilizes the step platform to perform exercises that target various muscle groups with the body weight and use of weights.

Aqua Zumba

Known as the Zumba Pool Party, the Aqua Zumba program gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that's cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.

Aqua Fitness

This low impact, high/low intensity water class is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Class is held in the shallow water activity pool.

  • 9:00 a.m. - Monday and Wednesday 
  • 7:00 p.m. - Tuesday and Wednesday 
Maximum participants: 30

Aqua Therapy

This is a low impact, low intensity workout that emphasizes range of motion, strength training, and stretching held in the shallow activity pool.

Class times:
  • 9:00 a.m. - Tuesday and Thursday
Maximum participants: 30

Deep Water

This class is similar to Aqua Fitness but held in deeper water. Class is held in the competition pool. 

Class times: 
  • 9:00 a.m. - Friday 
Maximum participants: 30

Class Membership

  • $30 a month adults up to age 54, $27 for Seniors 55 and up
  • Unlimited classes first come first served.
  • $5 drop-in fee
  • Membership fee due by the 5th of every month
  • All classes ages 15 and up
  • Classes are subject to change
